Together, we gave hands-on financial education through a “game” of life to approximately 300 students taking the Personal Finance class at Century, John Marshall, and Mayo High Schools. As students arrived, they used their chosen career and its beginning salary to budget for their life – paying their rent/mortgage, purchasing a vehicle and insurance, setting a grocery and personal needs budget, deciding how much to save/invest, and more. After visiting each station, students balanced their budget and noted the changes needed to live the life they desire.“We started preparing for this day at the beginning of the year, and I look forward to seeing each student put their knowledge into action,” said James McCormick, Business Education teacher at Mayo HS and director of Finance Camp. “The real world is full of big decisions, and we are proud to give our students needed practical knowledge to manage a budget as they journey into adulthood.”We are proud to be a part of this event with financial support and with 35 volunteers from our team who lead the different stations with their professional financial knowledge and experience.About Rochester Public Schools:Rochester Public Schools, located in Rochester, Minnesota, has the seventh largest enrollment in Minnesota, covers a large part of Olmsted County, and extends into Wabasha County. It makes employees feel valued and cared for and instills an acknowledgment that they are more than just work machines for the corporate. As a result, it enhances their overall job experience and strengthens their connection to the organization.Reduced Healthcare CostsWhile investment in employee wellness can look like a challenge now, you can achieve cost savings in the long run. You see – healthy employees are less prone to chronic diseases and have lower healthcare expenses. Look at Johnson & Johnson, for example. It usually covers resources under $100, such as yoga mats, fancy water bottles, protein powders, self-care kits, headphones, etc.Medium-Cost Incentives: Within a reasonable budget, medium-cost incentives offer meaningful motivation for employees to engage in wellness activities. With a budget of $100 to $300, they may include small health equipment, gym memberships, running shoes, wearable devices, etc.High-Cost Incentives: If your company has a substantial budget for financial wellness incentives, you can invest in high-cost resources. They offer a deeper level of motivation and satisfaction to the workforce. For example, health reimbursement arrangements (HRAs), wellness retreats, luxury dining, expensive gadgets, holiday trips, comprehensive counseling support, or personal health coach assistance.2. Non-Financial Wellness IncentivesAlso known as no-cost wellness program incentives, non-financial incentives offer valuable rewards that go beyond monetary compensation.
